Precept (Annual Rate Demand)

Soham Town Council has a statutory duty to set its rate demand (precept) which it sends to the Billing Authority (ECDC) who collect all domestic rates charged to  residents within the Parish.

Each year, the Council’s finances are reviewed by the Finance & Policy Committee which discusses: –

  • fixed costs and overheads of running the Town Council including staff requirements & Cllr expenses
  • projects requiring funding in the upcoming year
  • longer term projects that require financial consideration over a number of years
  • general gunds & allocated reserve provisions

The Finance & Policy Committee then makes recommendations to Full Council, usually at the October meeting each year, and Full Council agrees the budget and sets the precept for the following financial year.  Soham Town Council is committed to keeping the precept as low as possible whilst still providing the best services to its residents.

Below you will find current as well as previous years’ calculations.
