Barway Village Hall (and Land) Charity

In 2019 after an asset audit undertaken by Soham Town Council a number of land issues were identified

One has been the identification of a parcel of land in Barway under the Custodianship of local Charity which had long been suspended due to most of the original Trustees having died and the Charity due to that suspension having been removed from Charities Commission in or around the 1970’s.

The Land in question is identified below

There is no dispute to land ownership-this remains vested as an asset in that original charity. However for the land to be brought back into community use and service (or even for disposal and the proceeds to be distributed as per the original codicils in the Deed or articles of association) the Barway Village Hall Charity needs to be reconstituted. To do this either the original Trustees need to be available or in the absence of this for the organisations that were named in the original Deed of Conveyance to come together to reform. One of the original Bodies named in the Conveyance was Soham Town Parish (succeeded by Town) Council.
