Street Lights

The majority of Street lights operating on Public roads and thoroughfares are owned by Cambridgeshire County Council (CCC) and are maintained under a PFI (Public Finance Initiative) with Balfour Beatty. To report an street light issue you need to identify the column on the interactive map and then reporting it

Soham Town Council retains a small stock of its own street lights (usually column is marked with ‘PC’) which are located usually in more remote areas within Soham. For a location list please click here and to report any issue please contact Soham Town Council Offices.

Other Street light columns may have been installed on residential roads within newer housing developments in Soham and as part of the Developers’ responsibilities under Planning Conditions set by the Planning Authority. Where this is the case their ongoing maintenance is either the responsibility of East Cambridgeshire District Council or Cambridgeshire County Council (under s106 agreement) or where not remain the responsibility of the Developer. Residents are requested to contact their Developer in the first instance on this type of matter.
