PosAbility

PosAbility is a Cambridgeshire based charity, launched in 2012, whose dedicated and supportive instructors deliver exercise sessions for people living with long-term health conditions in accessible community venues. Our clients live with MS, Parkinson’s, arthritis, stroke, dementia and many are wheelchair users. We believe that anyone who has a long-term condition should be able to access activities which make the most of their abilities and provide opportunities to socialise and share experiences.

We run two sessions on Wednesdays in The Pavilion

10am – 12 noon Positive About Your Ability – Group and individual exercises for people living with Parkinson’s, MS, arthritis and stroke survivors

1 – 3 pm  Love To Move – an age and dementia-friendly chair-based movement to music programme.

Soham Brigade

Soham Brigade is open to both boys and girls and meets on a Wednesday night at Soham Methodist Church Hall, Berrycroft Lane, Soham from 7pm to 8.15pm. The uniform is a blue polo shirt and fleece. The group welcomes young people in school years 4 to 13, and the weekly programme includes activities such as games, crafts, sports, cooking, art and music. The full programme is available on our website. We also offer the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme to anyone over 14yrs old which is incorporated into the weekly programme with expeditions held jointly with the Sawston Brigades. The group is led by keen and enthusiastic leaders.

Cam Sight

Cam Sight is a Cambridgeshire charity that supports local people of all ages living with low vision and blindness to live the lives they choose.  The charity’s aim is to enhance the independence, improve the well-being, and increase the inclusion of local people living with blindness and low vision. Currently we regularly support 2000 people across the county from our offices in Cambridge and Wisbech. Cam Sight provides people living with a visual impairment the tools, advice and training needed to live more independent lives. We can offer counselling, befriending, and accessible sport activities to improve mental and physical well-being.

Soham Community Association

Soham Community Association was launched in April 2019 with the aim of bringing the people of Soham together to promote a greater sense of community. Anyone aged 16 or over who lives, works, or volunteers in the Parish of Soham is (automatically) a member. A free community magazine is produced bi-monthly, but donations are always welcome!

Over 60’s Coffee Morning Club

We meet on Tuesday mornings between 9am and 11am at the Walter Gidney Pavilion on the recreation ground.  Weekly entrance fee is £1 and raffle tickets are 50p.  Tea & coffee and biscuits are served.  All welcome!

We meet on a Friday afternoon between 2pm and 3:45pm at the Walter Gidney Pavilion on the recreation ground.  Weekly entrance fee is £1.50 and raffle tickets are 50p.  We usually have a speaker or entertainer each week.  All welcome!

Bumble Bees

Bumbly Bees Music Group is a group for children aged 0 to preschool.  Did you know that everything we do in our sessions help towards life skills for you and your children! it’s a great bonding session for the adult and child! As well as lots of fantastic music and dancing! We have sessions in Littleport (Tuesdays), Ely (Wednesdays) and Soham (Fridays).  Please message us via our Facebook page for more information.

Soham Men’s Shed

Soham Men’s Shed aims to help improve social and mental wellbeing for people in and around Soham, as well as creating a go to place for men and women (they have regular female members too) over the age of 18. We also carry out a wide range of projects to make garden planters and benches, lamp shades, bird and bat boxes and anything we can turn our hand to (and if you feel like it).  The Shed is located on South Angle Farm, Soham, CB7 5HX and is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10am and 2pm. New members are very welcome. Come along for tea, biscuits and a chat anytime.
