Winter weather grit bin refill & volunteering

If you spot a salt grit bin that is empty or running low, please let CCC Highways know through its online reporting tool

Request for winter volunteers for this winter season 2021-2022.

CCC Highways would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all volunteers that took part in its Community Gritting Scheme last winter.

For those hearing about the Community Gritting Scheme for the first time, this is a scheme where Local volunteers can help to keep their community moving in freezing weather. Under this scheme, the parish or town council decides on specific routes in their area which are important to the local community and agrees them with the county council.

All volunteers, including those who have volunteered before will need to complete a registration form with CCC and undergo training.  The registration form is required annually ensure our health and safety standards are being met.

PLEASE NOTE : Only volunteers that have completed the required training and returned the registration form to CCC will be covered by the County Council’s insurance. Where not a person undertaking such activity on their own recognisance and responsibility is not a volunteer to or under insurance of CCC.

For more information and to register for the Scheme please contact the Office
